Writing for Power: Turning Lived Experiences into Collective Action with Jennifer Disla
June 2, 2026 at 5 PM CST
In this Swarm Session, Jennifer Disla will guide participants through a writing process centered on power—examining how personal experiences of labor, migration, and identity can be shaped into narratives that mobilize communities and influence policy.
All forms of writing are welcome. Essays, poetry, reflection, manifesto—reclaiming our Palabras in the ways our ancestors call us to place them on the page.
Participants will explore how power shapes inspiration and how writing can strengthen Dominican heritage, working-class communities, and collective advocacy efforts. This session is designed especially for entry-level authors who want their stories to contribute to something larger than themselves.
Do you have a topic you’d like to explore together or teach? Feel free to share ideas for future sessions using the link below.
If a session fills, we’ll livestream it on our YouTube channel. And if you miss one? Replays live there, too.
